About Jamie

Jamie Hadzima, 44, of Stavanger, Norway, passed away on July 18th, 2019 after a five-year fearless battle with brain cancer.

Jamie was born on April 18th, 1975 to George Hadzima and Berit Rødsås in Thousand Oaks, CA. After graduating from Sunapee High School in 1992, he went on to take a postgraduate year at Williston Northampton School. As standout soccer player, he was awarded All-State and All-New England honors.  He went onto to study international affairs at George Washington University, where he also started on the men’s Division I Varsity soccer team.

After graduation, he had an unconventional professional career path working as a stockbroker, real estate agent, farmer, musician, and personal trainer in New York and Georgia. Furthermore, Jamie competed professionally in muay thai and mixed martial arts in New York City. 

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2014, Jamie relocated to Stavanger, Norway and resumed his academic career studying Norwegian Language and Culture, and started a masters program in Energy, Environment, and Society. 

He is survived by his parents, George Hadzima of W. Hartford, CT and Berit Rødsås of Stavanger, Norway; his brother Tony Hadzima of Madrid, Spain; his two daughters; and his brother Stephen Anderson of Oslo, Norway.
